Hand in hand with the joy of discovery in biomedical research goes the excitement of communicating the remarkable advances. Scientists serve more than the inquisitiveness of a few; they are responsible for creating a well-informed body of officials and ordinary citizens who understand, appreciate and support basic research in human and animal health. ONPRC scientists take their responsibility seriously. They serve as mentors for teachers and students, visit classrooms and hosts tours. They are active in programs of the Science Outreach and Resources (SOAR) committee of OHSU, and collaborate with several local institutions, including Saturday Academy, AWSEM and OMSI.
